Despite the nerve-wracking stress and burden of the last day of our midterm exams for this semester, every single negativity seemed to melt away the moment I arrived at my friend’s house for the celebration of her birthday. (Her birthday’s really on the 14th but because of our conflicting schedules, we decided to have it today/tonight.) Undeniably, your high school friends are one of the best you’ll ever have in your lifetime.
Lea’s celebration is scheduled to start at five but I arrived late which is not something new for me. They were already in the middle of talking about some people from high school. Nasty as it may seem, it is definitely a source of joy. We jumped from one random topic to the next with uncontrollable laughter. The highlight of the evening was sharing spine-tingling tales, mostly in campuses. I’m not really sure how we got there but I was partly thankful we did. Partly because it scared the hell out of me but I’m sure that we had an awesome time.
By the way, the meals were pretty delicious. The lasagna and siomai were really, really good. And fortunately, Lem brought ice cream! Yay! Eating scrumptious food while exchanging occasionally horrifying but always side-splitting stories with your friends- what would top that?
Of course, the gathering would never be complete without taking some pictures. Lots of thanks to Lem who took the photos. Another concrete piece of memento that would remind us of how the awesomeness of high school lasts to infinity and beyond.
So yeah, I must say that at the end of the day, there are lots of things to be thankful for. That despite the dark moments in life, there is always something to smile about. I just can’t really put into words how grateful I am to have these people. I missed them so much, and will surely start missing them again.
My sincerest gratitude to Lea and belated happy birthday. Thanks also to Joannah, Nica, Lem, Dale and Istienne for the beyond amazing night.
