The Beauty of Falling

I bet all of us already had that night when we went to bed crying, that moment when everything is slowly falling apart, when loneliness and pain is tearing our fragile souls into pieces, when our suffering is eating us alive. We all know how it feels. And that feeling is what we always tried to forget, that feeling we would never want to look back to.

But all those times when we felt helpless, alone, and abandoned, those pushed us to be better than we once were. Those moments of breakdown taught us how to truly realize the beauty of things. If it weren’t for those gut-wrenching defeats, how would we really understand how it feels to bathe in the splendid downpour of triumph? If it weren’t for those times when we had no way of getting what we wanted the most, how would we feel like being the happiest person alive once we finally obtain what we worked hard for? If it weren’t for those people who let us down, who left us when we needed them most, who would do anything just to see us suffer, how would we be able to treasure the ones that will never leave us most especially when the world turns its back on us? If it weren’t for all the heartbreaks, how would we appreciate how it feels to be truly loved?

When we’re down, we feel like it’s the end of the road for us. But it’s not. There are still a lot of things ahead of us. An ocean of people we have yet to meet. A handful of victories. A bunch of great adventures. A basket of memories to fill. A little more heartache, perhaps. A wave of problems. Maybe another doze of romance. But most importantly, life.

It isn’t about how good or bad your day, your week, your month, your year or your decade has been. It’s about how you spent them. It’s about how you do the best out of what you’re given. And making the most of them varies from person to person. We all have different paths to take. Some may find peace in living in the mountains and contemplate the beauty of the world, some in travelling, some in writing, some in loving. As long as we constantly fight for what we believe in, what we hope for, what we dream of despite all the disapprovals, the challenges, and the setbacks, we will always manage to find peace in our hearts. At the end of the day, it’s about doing what you are called to do. And remember, troubles are always part of the package.
